November 2007 - BAFTA Scotland
Lion Television's Consenting Adults has won two Scottish Baftas. Sean Biggerstaff won the Best Actor - Television award and Julian Mitchell won Best Writer - Television. Consenting Adults was also nominated for Best Drama.

June 2007 - Consenting Adults
Lion Scotland has been commissioned by BBC DRAMA to produce Consenting Adults. The 75 minute special is set against the deliberations of the Wolfenden Committee, established by the then Home Secretary to look into the law relating to Homosexual Offences and Prostitution in September 1954. Consenting Adults, the transmission of which will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the report's publicatioh, follows the diverse members of the committee as they struggle towards their radical conclusions.

April 2007 - The Edwardian Family Album
Lion Scotland has been commissioned by BBC FOUR to produce The Edwardian Family Album. Set in the magnificent Edwardian mansion of Manderston in the Scottish borders, the 60' programme will analyse photographs and related family heirlooms and decode the fascinating human stories and historical themes they reveal. The Great Edwardian Roadshow is part of BBC FOUR’s Edwardian season.

1 November 2006 - History Detectives
Lion Scotland has been commissioned by The Open University to produce History Detectives, an exciting new history format for BBC Two.

1 November 2006 - Sheriff Court
Lion Scotland's ground-breaking film shot inside the workings of Scotland's Sheriff Courts, has been nominated for a BAFTA Scotland Award.

1 November 2006 - Colin Cameron Honoured
Colin Cameron, Managing Director of Lion Television Scotland, has been made Honorary Professor of Film and Media Studies at The University of Stirling.

2 October 2006 - Transcendental Education
Lion Scotland is now in production with Indian School - a new 10part documentary series profiling the daily life of two schools in the rapidly-growing city of Pune, in India. The battle to hold on to ancient cultural values against the lure of computers and call-centres is at the heart of this fascinating series. The series is being produced for BBC Four and The Open University, and will transmit in 2007.

     


Lion Television Scotland

Lion Television Scotland, based in Glasgow, was set up in 1999 to produce the award-winning Castaway 2000 for BBC One. This pioneering documentary series chronicled the lives of 36 people from all walks of life as they struggled to survive for a year on the remote Hebridean island of Taransay.
